Please be mindful, that Colorado Shine's rating program is not acheived by customer reviews like a hotel, but a very complex and time consuming rating program.
Colorado Shines uses the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale FCCERS-3 to rate programs.
A significant portion of the rating is based on the amount of materials that the program has.

It is extremly difficult to obtain a level 5 rating.  As of March 2023 only 6 out of 650 child care's that participate in Colorado Shines have achieved a 5 rating.

Colorado Shines considers a 3-5 rating as excellence in child care.
This program maintains that rating.
Please keep in mind, that numurous programs choose not to participate in Colorado Shines due to time constraints.
Spending quality time with children has always been the main goal.
If a program is not rated, go visit them and see their program for yourself.

All licensed child care providers in the state are already considered quality just by obtaining and maintaining a license.
We are highly regulated by the state's licensing authority.

All must do annual training in:  CPR, First Aid, Infant Safe Sleep, Child Nutrition, Child Social Emotional, Cognative Development, FEMA Emergency Training,
Immunizations, Shaken Baby and Child Abuse Prevention.
Monthly fire, tornado, and shelter in place drills are mandatory.
FBI (for NAFCC Accredited programs) & CBI background checks are required routinely.

Licensing does random un-scheduled visits yearly.  The food program also does these visits more than once per year.
